چکیده
We construct viscous fluid flow sourced by a force dipole embedded in cylindrical membrane, coupled to external embedding fluids. find analytic expressions for the flow, limit of infinitely long and thin tubular membranes. utilize this solution formulate in-plane dynamics pair pusher-type dipoles along cylinder surface. that mutually perpendicular generically move together helical geodesics. Since geometry breaks rotational symmetry there is difference flows axial transverse directions cylinder. This turn leads anisotropic hydrodynamic interaction between remarkably different from flat spherical In particular, compact direction has local rigid rotation term (independent angular coordinate but decays axis cylinder). Effective interactions between fluid membranes.
A self-consistent theory is proposed for the general problem of interacting undulating fluid membranes subject to the constraint that they do not interpenetrate. We implement the steric constraint via an exact functional integral representation and, through the use of a saddle-point approximation, transform it into a novel effective steric potential. The steric potential is found to consist of ...
متن کاملMechanics of nonplanar membranes with force-dipole activity.
A study is made of how active membrane proteins can modify the long wavelength mechanics of fluid membranes. The activity of the proteins is modelled as disturbing the protein surroundings through nonlocal force distributions of which a force-dipole distribution is the simplest example. An analytic expression describing how the activity modifies the force-balance equation for the membrane surfa...
متن کاملTubular MFI Zeolite Membranes Made by In-Situ Crystallization
Polycrystalline MFI zeolite membranes were prepared on α-alumina tubular support by hydrothermal treatments at 413 K. The synthesized zeolite membranes were characterized by XRD, SEM and single gas permeation. The influence of hydrothermal treatment steps and the calcination time on the zeolite layer formation were investigated. MFI zeolite membrane prepared by four subsequent hydrothermal ...
متن کاملDipole-dipole interactions in nanoparticle superlattices.
Nanoparticles often self-assemble into hexagonal-close-packed (hcp) structures although it is predicted to be less stable than face-centered-cubic (fcc) packing in hard-sphere models. In addition to close-packed fcc and hcp superlattices, we observe formation of nonclose-packed simple-hexagonal (sh) superlattices of nearly spherical PbS, PbSe, and gamma-Fe2O3 nanocrystals. This surprisingly ric...
متن کاملDipole Interactions in Nanosystems
The dipole-dipole interaction influences nanoscopic matter by fixing the patterns of permanent, displacive, and induced dipole moments, subject to constraints of molecular size and other short range interactions. Prediction of these arrangements is a challenging problem. The eigenvector of maximum eigenvalue of the dipole-dipole interaction matrix can provide insights and sometimes a complete s...
